Accessibility Statement
Last updated: October 3, 2026
We want as many people as possible to enjoy Shovrim (שוברים ת'ראש), including people with disabilities. This statement describes what has been done to make the website and the app accessible, and what is not accessible yet.
1. The standard we follow
The website is built to Israeli Standard IS 5568, which is based on WCAG 2.0 level AA, as required by the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013. We also aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA.
2. What has been done on the website
Last checked: 3 October 2026, by manual review and a contrast check of every text colour.
- Full keyboard navigation, with a clear focus indicator.
- A "Skip to content" link at the top of every page.
- An ordered heading structure and markup that works with screen readers: accordions, tabs and dialogs are labelled correctly, and puzzle messages are announced.
- Colour contrast of at least 4.5:1 for text.
- Text can be enlarged up to 200% without content being cut off.
- Alternative text for the logo and meaningful images. Decorative icons are hidden from screen readers.
- Tap targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- In the puzzles on the site, a right or wrong answer is also marked with a symbol or a strikethrough, not by colour alone.
- All content loads even without JavaScript.
- Full support for Hebrew and right-to-left layout.
- Animations are turned off for anyone who set "reduce motion" on their device.
- The site works on phones, tablets and computers.
3. What has been done in the app
- Large buttons, and every game opens with instructions. A fixed button at the top of the screen opens them again without resetting the game.
- The same colour palette as the website, with high contrast between text and background.
- Information is never conveyed by colour alone. A right or wrong answer is also marked with a symbol and text.
- Sounds and vibration can be turned off in settings, and the game does not depend on them.
- "Reduce motion" can be turned on in the app's settings, and it turns on automatically for anyone who set it on their device.
- While the instructions or another window are open, the game clock stops.
4. What is not accessible yet
- What's in the Picture: the puzzles in this game are images, so it is not accessible to screen reader users.
- Timed games: some games have a clock, for example ten seconds per idiom in Half an Idiom and two minutes in Word Crack. It cannot be turned off or extended at the moment. The games without a clock: Four in a Group, Word Ladder, Letter Box and What's in the Picture.
- Screen readers in the app: support is partial, and we are working to improve it.
